A slow computer fix that finds the bottleneck before it deletes anything.
Remote cleanup for Windows 10, Windows 11 and macOS machines that take four minutes to reach a usable desktop. We strip startup items, manufacturer bloatware and adware while you watch, measure boot time before and after, and tell you straight when no amount of cleaning will help because the drive is a spinning 5400 rpm disk.
What a remote cleanup actually removes
The usual slow family PC has three problems stacked on each other. Twenty to forty programs launch at sign-in. The manufacturer shipped six utilities nobody opens, two of which update themselves every boot. And somewhere along the way a free PDF converter brought a browser hijacker with it.
We go through Task Manager's Startup tab and the scheduled tasks, not just the tab. A lot of updaters hide in Task Scheduler and come back after you disable them in Settings. On a Mac it is Login Items and the LaunchAgents folders. Each item gets one of three verdicts in the notes: kept, disabled, removed.
Adware is removed by hand and checked with Microsoft Defender's offline scan or Malwarebytes free, run once and then uninstalled unless you ask to keep it. Browser extensions get the same treatment. Edge and Chrome profiles are reset only if you say yes, because a reset also clears saved tabs.
| Finding | Usual source | What we do | Typical time |
|---|---|---|---|
| 30+ startup items | Updaters, chat apps, printer suites | Disable in Startup and Task Scheduler | 10 min |
| Trial antivirus fighting Defender | Preinstalled by the maker | Uninstall with the vendor's removal tool | 15 min |
| Search page hijacked | Bundled installer, rogue extension | Remove extension, reset search engine | 10 min |
| Disk at 100% in Task Manager | Spinning hard drive plus indexing | Measure, then write the SSD note | 5 min |
| Drive 96% full | Old update files, duplicate photo libraries | Disk Cleanup, show you the big folders | 15 min |
Times are typical for a single machine, not a promise. A machine with a heavy infection can take a second block, and we ask before starting it.
Where a cleanup stops helping
This is the part most cleanup services skip. Software tidying has a floor, and on a lot of machines that floor is still slow.
A 2014 laptop with a 5400 rpm hard disk will boot in roughly ninety seconds no matter how clean it is. Swap that disk for any decent SATA SSD and the same machine boots in fifteen. We can see the drive type in the session, we will tell you which it is, and we will not charge you for a cleanup that we already know will move the needle by eight seconds. 4 GB of RAM under Windows 11 is the other hard floor: Edge with six tabs plus Teams will swap to disk and nothing we disable changes that.
We do not open the case, we do not fit the SSD, and we do not sell you one. You take it to a local bench or do it yourself, and we will set the machine up again afterwards if you want. A fresh Windows install after a drive swap is a workstation setup, not a cleanup.
- No registry cleaners. They have never been shown to make a modern Windows machine faster and they break things.
- No "optimizer" subscriptions installed in your name. If one is already there, we remove it and cancel nothing on your behalf.
- No deleting files you have not seen. Everything that leaves the machine is on screen first.
- No hardware. Drives, RAM, fans and thermal paste are a local bench job, and we say so inside the first ten minutes.
How the session runs
-
Baseline, before anything changes
We time a cold boot, read the drive model and type, check free space and RAM, and screenshot the startup list. Those numbers go in the note so the after can be compared to something.
-
Startup and scheduled tasks
Line by line, with you watching. Anything we are unsure about stays enabled and goes on the list to discuss rather than being guessed at.
-
Bloatware and adware removal
Maker utilities, trial security suites, toolbars and extensions. The vendor's own removal tool is used where an uninstaller leaves services behind.
-
Disk and updates
Disk Cleanup including old Windows update files, pending updates installed, drivers left alone unless one is clearly the problem.
-
Second boot and the verdict
Another cold boot, timed. You get the before and after numbers and, when it applies, a one-line hardware recommendation naming the drive in the machine.
Nothing stays installed after the session. The remote tool is removed while you watch, unless you have separately asked for unattended access, which is its own job with its own password and access list.
Who this slow computer fix suits
Households with one aging desktop that everybody complains about. Office managers with a machine at reception that has been collecting software since 2019. People looking after a parent's computer from another city, where driving over to look at a startup list is not realistic.
It is a poor fit if the machine is already on an SSD with 16 GB of RAM and still crawls. That is usually a failing drive, a thermal problem or a specific application, and a cleanup will waste your sixty dollars. Send us the symptom through the symptom lookup first and we will say which it looks like.
The questions people actually ask before booking
Short answers. If yours is not here, call +1 (899) 555-5520 during booking hours.
A cleanup is cheap compared to a new machine and worthless compared to an SSD. Knowing which situation you are in is most of the value.
Read how a session runsNo. We remove programs, startup entries and extensions. Personal files are not touched. If the drive is nearly full we show you which folders are large and you decide what goes, with you driving that part.
Not in a one-off session. The one-time code only works while someone reads it to us. If you want work done while nobody is at the desk, that is unattended access setup, agreed separately and with a named list of who can connect.
On a machine with an SSD and a bloated startup list, boot often drops from over a minute to under twenty seconds. On a spinning disk the gain is usually small, and we tell you that before you pay rather than after.
Usually not for Windows 11, which it cannot run supported anyway. We will say so. Sometimes the honest answer is that the money is better spent on a used machine with an SSD, and we would rather lose the booking than take it.
No. Adware, toolbars and browser hijackers, yes. Encrypting ransomware is a rebuild-and-restore job and we will tell you to disconnect the machine from the network first. That conversation goes to backup and recovery.
Tell us what the machine does.
Say the make, roughly how old, and what you see. We reply with whether a cleanup is the right job or whether you are looking at a drive.
